This episode is more about mid century items from the 50's and 60's than about road trips and cars. Although we did talk cars and travel. Jeff is the owner of Mid Century Modern Rescue. A business in Cincinnati that is focused on preserving items from that time period. Jeff took his hobby and made it a full-time business after 30 years in the business world. I hope you will check Jeff out on Instagram at MidCenturyModernRescue. You will not be disappointed.
I sat with Jeff in his workshop/showroom for this conversation. It was like I had stepped back in time. I hope you enjoy our conversation.

My ride today was with another long time friend. I met Kevin when our daughters played on a spring soccer team in our neighborhood. He and his family would become great friends. We had the pleasure to travel to Haiti with them one Christmas and share some great moments. Kevin and his family are travelers and have seen a lot of the world. He has some funny travel stories. Kevin was involved with the business side of vision care but he also brought his experience to the non profit world to help people with vision care. He started his business career working on Mr. Clean and met his wife who worked on the Top Job team. As he says, Mr. Clean married Top Job. I hope you enjoy our early morning drive and conversation.

I met my guest today in 2006 on One Lap of America. I learned quickly from her website that she was model, but then I saw her jacking up a car for a repair only later to strap in and go racing. She lives in Switzerland today and she loves auto racing. We took a virtual road trip and talked about cars, racing and life in general. I hope you enjoy our conversation. I look forward to seeing her the first week of May as we head out for another lap on One Lap of America.

This is a special episode, one I record before his death in 2021. This one is from June 2019. I hope the one thing you take away if you listen is to record the stories of your family that is still living.
Dillard Wright, Jr. He was one of 13 children born in Stearns, Kentucky. He was a special man that believed you needed a purpose in life if not everyday. He would often ask, what did you accomplish today? He was a miner, but mostly he loved farming and specifically taking care of his cattle. He worked every day tirelessly up until about 2 years before his death. He actually thought he was still working when he died, there was always hay to take in, cattle to feed or fence to mend. I miss him greatly. I could not have asked for a better father-in-law.

I had the joy of finally talking with my brother, Scott. He is 9 years older than me. I have memories of riding in his car, playing catch in the backyard and other childhood memories. When you are 9 years apart though it is like two only children. He basically left home when I was 9. That all changed when I spent the summer with him in Germany while he was serving our country. Since that time, he has been a constant source of encouragement to me especially with all my crazy ideas. After our parents died in 2014 and 2015, he looked at me and said, "it is just us now". After they died, I continued to tell him I had 101 unanswered questions that I failed to ask. Again, he encouraged me to write them down and share them with others. Today's episode are a few questions I had for him, and yes this will be part 1 as we build a library of our brother conversations. I hope you enjoy the show and I hope you start asking your own questions of family and friends.
You can find Scott's company (financial advising) at https://www.dsneal.com and his blog at https://www.dscottneal.com

I took a virtual road trip with Jarett Andretti recently. I met Jarett and his dad John in 2013 at a race event. It is one of those memories, I will never forget. When John died in 2020, I wrote a short note entitled A Racer and a Gentleman. That is what I remember about John and Jarett from meeting them in 2013. They were both racers and gentlemen. Jarett continues to race and owns a race team with his mom. I hope you enjoy our conversation about cars, road trips, racing and life. Be sure to follow Jarett on Instagram @jarettandretti and their foundation at https://www.checkit4andretti.org/ as they support tests for colon cancer.
