Publisher's Summary:
Danica Jordan has been roughing it for years - two, to be exact. Her mother got up one day and never returned. "Dani" is what all of her friends know her by. She is 17 and living the life of an adult. Unlike most 17-year-olds, she pays for her own apartment, purchased her own car, and works a masculine job to make her own money.
Problem is she is living a lie. Her coworkers think that she is a 20-something-year-old independent woman. Her tough exterior helps her handle the roughness of life. The steel plant that she works for is evidence of that. She handles everything perfectly until she meets her boss' son and the new owner of the plant, Lark Brannigan. He takes an interest, unaware of her age. He treats her to the bright side of life. She slowly sheds her tough girl act as Lark sweeps her off of her feet. She falls hard, and soon the truth about her age begins to creep into the forefront.
How will Lark feel when he finds out that he is dating a teenager? And how will her life change when her past is exposed?
Members Reviews:
interesting but not always enjoyable
The story was interesting but at times not enjoyable. The heroine Danica was not likable nor the hero Lark. It is true that she worked hard and was able to overcome the odds, supporting herself since age 15 and still finishing school, which is commendable. However, Danica had little control over her emotions and vacillated between two brothers, almost sexing both. She was rude to people and loved to cuss. Frequently she lost her temper, screaming obscenities at people including a the man who mentored her wife.
Lark was not much better. He was immature despite being 7 years old that Danica, spoiled, lazy and a quitter. His father bought him a company to run because he dropped out of college and after attempting to manage it after a short period of time, he hired a manager so he could have more time to romance Danica. Then he took a vacation, going on a week long trip with her. She ended up with the wrong brother. The responsible brother accepted her how she was whereas Lark wanted to change her. He took away her job and wanted her to do something more feminine. He scurried back to an ex when times got tough.
The writing needed help. It was rough and included grammar mistakes.
