Daniel #8

Listen Later

In this study of Daniel 7, we focus on Daniel's vision of four beasts, which parallel the four kingdoms Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream of a great statue. Instead of the statue's four parts (gold, silver, bronze, iron mixed with clay), Daniel sees four beasts: a lion, a bear, a leopard, and a final beast with characteristics unlike any natural animal. This final beast represents Rome, distinct from the others because it disintegrates from within rather than being conquered.
Nebuchadnezzar's dream also includes a fifth kingdom represented by a little stone that becomes a mountain, symbolizing the eternal kingdom of God. Similarly, in Daniel's vision, this fifth kingdom is the kingdom of Jesus Christ, represented by the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man. This kingdom, given to the Son of Man by the Ancient of Days, will last forever and put an end to the fourth kingdom. establishing Christ's eternal reign.
As background for this study, Pastor Rhode explores Psalm 2 and Psalm 110 to understand this final kingdom. Then he examines the angelic interpretation of Daniel's vision, particularly focusing on the fourth beast and the "little horn" that speaks boastful things.
