Daniel “Hollywood” Holloway has been racing and winning on his own terms for most of his career. While having to compete against teams that have more riders, and can dictate race strategies, Daniel has a keen eye for reading a race, interacting with other racers and getting his wheel to the finish line before anyone else. Daniel who originally grew up on some of the roads in Northern California, got his start on roller skates honing some of his early race tactics. He then moved onto the Velodrome where in one weekend he would have a handful of races under his belt. Going from that base to road cycling was a smooth transition. Most riders he would race with had way less experience and didn’t start as early as Daniel.

While having raced in Southern California before, he calls Boulder Colorado home and has spent a lot of his time between Los Angeles and Colorado. He recently raced on the track where he is currently recovering from a crash at the Velodrome in Carson. The crash has set back his training a bit but recovery is the primary goal for now. Daniel is a four time national criterium champion and a national road race champion. While most people would say his strengths lie in sprinting, his ability to keep his mind sharp and body calm during the critical moments of a race.

He has become resourceful in races to see who is riding strong, who is working for someone and who are the riders to watch. Daniel has more race experience than most people and understands the perception he gets from other racers. Usually riding for smaller teams he would rather spend time with his teammates than hang out with his competitors post race. Daniel also gives his perspective on why some of the racing has gotten a little too aggressive in Southern California racing and he attributes it to people wanting to push their way to the front and even being on camera. His perspective is something that every cyclist can learn from and develop a spatial awareness that people often lack. We also intro the show with soon to be brother in law and Episode 2 guest Adam Schepps. We cover San Dimas Stage Race as well as making cyclists look good off the bike with Thread + Spoke. Only 3 episodes to go. You do not want to miss this episode!
