A recent study investigated the effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza root extract (Danshen, also known as red sage), at two different dosages (400 mg/day and 800 mg/day), on men with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involved 136 male participants. The study found that Danshen, at both dosages, significantly improved LUTS compared to a placebo. This improvement was observed in various aspects of urinary health, including nighttime urination frequency and quality of life. These findings suggest that Danshen may be a promising natural approach for managing LUTS in men.
