The audio features the first ever public guitar playing of your humble author. I know it sucks. I figured I’d give it a shot, rather than trying to find some available music to play in the background to add some continuity between clips.

I was interviewed yesterday for a CBC Radio News report that was on the air this morning. We talked for about 15 minutes, and most of it hit the cutting room floor. But at least the bits that got broadcast weren’t too embarrassing…

Update: apparently they used different clips of the interview in different newscasts. Hopefully the others were less tattoo-centric and more pro-bike-safety :-)

I’d planned on releasing a full presentation+audio version of the presentation, but it’s going to take me weeks to sync up the 105 slides to the 1-hour audio track.

So, in the meantime, here’s the audio-only portion of the presentation (27.2MB MP3). Not sure how well it stands on its own, but it might come in handy for someone.

The only editing I’ve done to the audio was to remove the 6 minute preamble and embarrassing intro (as Mr. Expert Guy - gack - which is why you hear me mention it at the beginning of the audio). Sorry for the audio quality - it was recorded directly to my iPod via Belkin TuneTalk at an incredible 8KHz, and tweaked in Audacity to make it suck less.

I’ve been told that some schwanky new G5 systems (quad, no less) are in transit to the Learning Commons. When I get mine, I’ll give GarageBand ‘06 a shot at making the “video” version with slides from the presentation. It’s just going to take too much time to manually do it in iMovie. I’d give Breeze a shot, but converting the Keynote to .ppt format would so totally destroy the transparencies used on many slides…

Update: The podcast audio file was borked (thanks for the heads up, Brian!) so if you downloaded a 6 minute version, it’s truncated. The whole thing should be 18 minutes long, and is available here. Sorry about that…

So, I’m still not using the computer when I’m “off duty”, but that doesn’t mean I can’t stretch out on the couch with my iPod and TuneTalk microphone and think out loud about stuff after Evan’s gone to bed…

I actually started this podcast as an offline notebook page, on the bus ride home on Friday. Then, I did more thinking about it, and read some of Nona Lyons’ With Portfolio in Hand, and wound up rambling into my iPod…

In this episode, I talk about two topics. First “How do you find time to blog?”, and second “Thoughts on ePortfolios”

I just finished demonstrating podcasting for the ADETA group. During the session, I tried to upload audio to weblogs.ucalgary.ca to demonstrate podcast publishing and subscribing, but it failed for some unknown reason.

So, I’m trying again here. 2 podcast posts in one day… (you did notice the video from the last post was provided as a podcast enclosure - might even play on those fancy schmancy video iPods all the cool kids seem to have these days)

Update: Here’s the Podcasting session for ADETA. It’s a Java Web Start application, but should take you right to the presentation (eventually - bear with the download etc…). I had to turn up the “Speaker” volume - the right audio slider dealie in the bottom left corner.

Paul pointed out that I could have charged more. ;-) - it was a free session, of course.

Just a quick podcast to say Howdy (or is that Aloha?) after returning to Calgary. This was supposed to be a very brief Hello podcast, but turned into a 14-minute ramble about the 3 weeks away from the office.

Trying out the new “Podcast” AAC export in iTunes (actually, I tweaked it a bit to make the file even smaller). If anyone misses MP3 format, let me know.

Update: Well, that was fun. Took just over an hour to record enough stuff to fill a 2 minute segment. I will air as part of season 3 of TKO, which will apparently start airing in a couple of months. I’ll get a copy of the segment for personal viewing - they didn’t like it when I asked to be able to stream it online… :-)

The action shot of me listening to podcasts while walking the halls was quite staged, and rather disconcerting, but they say I won’t look like a total dork. Well, no more than usual…

Well, it’s been about a month and a half since my last podcast… Lots has changed since then. Hear your protagonist babble on about folksonomies, loosely bound metadata, and the like…

UPDATE: Holy frikoly! This podcast has been downloaded 198 times so far! 748MB of downloady goodness. Good thing I get 25GB/month bandwidth from my hosting provider…
