Amanda Beausoleil is the Founder and Executive Director of SIRA, a nonprofit that helps people recover from self-injury through an effective and powerful peer-group support model. Amanda struggled with self-injury for 15 years. She found recovery through a self-injury peer support group in New York. In 2019 she left the corporate world and a longstanding career in fashion working for the industry’s most respected brands (Saks Fifth Avenue, Tory Burch, and Coveteur) to take the peer support group and launch it into a full-fledged 501(c)3. She now brings her lived experience and professional expertise as Executive Director.

Alex grew up in the SF Bay Area where the definition of “hotness” was dictated by “beautiful” people in popular magazines and TV shows. His entire childhood, he felt trapped in his fat body and hated how he looked. That was until he realized what he had been taught his whole life was a lie. Hotness was more than perfect abs and bulging biceps, it was an attitude. And that he had! Alex is also a Professional Opera Singer, an industry that he thought would be accepting of his fat body. Boy was he wrong. 

When Alex began his modeling career in 2016, the entire experience was a fever dream. Fast forward and now Alex is a successful plus-size model, body acceptance advocate and role model to fat guys all around the world. He can currently be seen in every Target in the United States. Alex has worked with Lululemon, Target, Wrangler, Kohls, L’Oreal, Polo Ralph Lauren, Izod, Haband, Kirkland, The Everyman Project, & Arrested Movement. He is the CEO, Founder, and Chief Hot Fat Guy of the Hot Fat Guy Club, an organization he started to dispel the myths around diet culture, fatphobia, and other fat-people stereotypes. The Hot Fat Guy Club is a global, inclusive, exclusive community. It is dedicated to empowering Fat, Big & Tall, Cis, Transgender, and Nonbinary folks, and the people that love them. The Mission of the HFGC is to show the world that Hotness does not come from the outside. Hotness comes from how you carry and care for yourself and others.

The HFGC is a club powered by joy and self-acceptance. We are a support system that encourages, educates, uplifts and inspires fellow members to overcome societal “norms” and embrace their inner Hot Fat Guy–all while having some outrageous fun doing so! Men are dramatically underrepresented in the body positivity movement.  Although we have made great strides with broadening the aperture of the types of larger bodies that define beautiful, the movement is primarily led by women. With big love to our sisters and non-binary brethren, HFGC advocates and creates opportunity for body positivity for Hat Fat Guys giving them a voice and community in an underrepresented marketplace.

He created the HFGC because he wanted a community where people are celebrated, not shamed, for their body type. Becoming a model gave Alex his most important job and achievement ever, becoming the Role Model to little fat kids like him, that he never had growing up.

When I was 7-years-old, my dad disappeared. What transpired was 5 years of hell based on two false confessions he signed under duress as an undiagnosed diabetic, who was put through the corrupt justice system and left to rot in a prison until he was released. 

My biggest passion project aside from helping you be fearless is helping kids whose parents were incarcerated. Another organization I work with is Pops The Club.
