Benjamin Lee, better known for his online moniker Mr Miyagi, is one of the founding parents of Singapore's social media scene. He has long entertained Singaporeans with his blog, theatre, television, and radio work (to name a few) over the last two decades and I've had the privilege of finding out more about the origins of this exceptionally talented man.
Benjamin candidly discusses his school years, when he met an eclectic group of people who would later go on to rock Singapore's media and political landscape, as well as moving lessons gleaned from numerous well-lived moments in his life, both locally and abroad. His humbleness belies the life wisdom he possesses, which he more than generously shares with us in this latest Dare to Dream episode.
Low Ser En, the very first Singaporean filmmaker to earn a BAFTA, and Lim Liang Chun (LC), an agronomist, are an unlikely duo. But these two friends are responsible for the visionary gifting platform – SendJoy (sendjoynow.com). Being one of the first movers in this category within Asia, SendJoy allows users to select a content creator to customize a gift e.g. greeting videos, poems, and paintings etc. for their loved ones. I speak with them to discover how these two Sendjoyers have fostered profound bonds of friendship and camaraderie through their business venture and how their entrepreneurial vision which is deeply rooted in Asian culture and values came about.
