Sie spricht über die Vor- und Nachteile, für wen sie geeignet sind und wir widmen uns dem Gedankenexperiment der „Pflichttierkrankenversicherung“.

Michelle hat im Jahr 2019 an der Tierärztlichen Hochschule Hannover ihr Tiermedizinstudium abgeschlossen und im November 2022 zum Thema „Die Tierkrankenversicherung für Hunde und Katzen aus ethischer Sicht“ promoviert.

This time Masha talked to Maad Abu-Ghazalah. He lives in the U.S.A., but his roots are in Nablus, Palestine. 2014 Maad founded the NGO Daily Hugz, a safe space both for humans and non-human animals, in a village called Asira, very close to Nablus. His aim was to give something back to society and create a place where broken hearts can heal. We talked about the vision of Daily Hugz, how the COVID-19 pandemic also hit this organization and what kind of daily struggles they face. Maad explained how the work for animal welfare is made more difficult by the fact that, among other things, freedom of movement is restricted by the occupation and therefore sometimes extraordinary or very creative ideas and solutions are needed. We also talked about Maad's future plans and dreams for Daily Hugz. They are currently taking care of around 80 dogs and 10 donkeys, the only place in the whole West Bank who can offer a shelter for that many animals.

In this podcast you will listen to Masha talking with Moath Abdallah about the animal welfare situation in the West Bank, Palestine, from his perspective. What is the current situation in this occupied territory and what needs to be done? How can one raise more awareness of animal welfare, when people are busy with living safely in an environment where the safety situation can change at any time? Do veterinarians have a special responsibility due to their profession?

Moath is a medicine student who goes above and beyond for the welfare of animals, and street dogs are of particular interest to him. He founded the Animal Welfare League at the An-Najah University in Nablus, Palestine. This League is a branch of the Palestinian Animal League in Ramallah. Welfare in Laboratory Animal Science

In this podcast on animal welfare in Laboratory Animal Science we talk with vets Tharanga Thoradeniya, Vijay Pal Singh and their animals science colleagues Esther Langen and Pim Rooymans about animal welfare questions and the benefits of international cooperation for animal welfare.

In dem heutigen Podcast spreche ich mit Professor Nick Lin-Hi von der Universität Vechta. Herr Lin-Hi ist Professor für Ökonomie und Ethik und beschäftigt sich unter anderem mit kultiviertem Fleisch. Wir besprechen die Notwendigkeit die Anzahl der gehaltenen Tiere zu reduzieren, die Herstellung von kultiviertem Fleisch und die gesellschaftlichen Auswirkungen der Änderung der Fleischindustrie. Als Jurist im Tierschutz unterwegs.

In dieser Episode sprechen wir mit Dr. Gieri Bolliger. Er ist Rechtsanwalt und Geschäftsleiter der Stiftung Tier im Recht (TIR);  https://www.tierimrecht.org/de/. Wir betrachten Tierschutz einmal von der rechtlichen Seite. Viel Spaß dabei :)

In dieser Episode berichtet Tierärztin Silke Haen von ihrer Erfahrung wie Tierschutz in die Bestandsbetreuung für Schwein und Rind integriert werden kann. 

Sie hat in Finnland in der Praxis mit einem Tool gearbeitet, mit dessen Hilfe die Bestandsbetreuung in Schweine- und Rinderbeständen realisiert wird. Dieses Tool ist als digitale Plattform für die verschiedenen Stakeholders zugänglich. Durch die Einbeziehung des Tierschutzes in die Bestandsbetreuung wird sowohl das Auge des Tierarztes als auch das des Landwirtes für Tierwohl geschult. Schwachpunkte im System können frühzeitig entdeckt und behoben werden. In ganz Finnland wir dieses Tool verwendet. Neben Tierwohl und Tierschutz werden Fragen zur Biosicherheit, zum Management, zu Leistungsparametern, zu Seuchen und zur Mortalität und Morbidität sowie zum Medikamenteneinsatz und Impfplan erhoben. Da alle Punkte miteinander wirken und nicht einzeln betrachtet werden sollten, ist sowohl für den Tierarzt als auch für den Landwirt ein effektives Arbeiten garantiert.

In der heutigen Episode sprechen wir mit Dr. Paul Morthorst, dem Leiter des Veterinäramtes Oldenburg. Das Veterinäramt ist die untere Veterinärbehörde, welche tagtäglich neben vielen weiteren Aufgaben auch Tierschutzfälle bearbeitet. Zuerst besprechen wir die Aufgaben des Veterinäramtes und die zukünftigen Berufsmöglichkeiten allgemein und dann ab Minute 22 beginnt der Tierschutzteil. Hier geht es u. a. darum, welche Möglichkeiten und Grenzen ein Tierarzt/eine Tierärztin am Veterinäramt hat, um etwas im Tierschutzbereich zu verändern. 

Egal ob man selbst am Veterinäramt arbeiten möchte oder plant in die Praxis zu gehen - ein Verständnis von und Zusammenarbeit mit Veterinärämtern ist unumgänglich :)
