Our gaming chat this episode covers a first look at Exodite, the latest Kill Team boxed set from GW, and its interesting take on solo/co-op gameplay. This sold out instantly on launch, but it's definitely worth looking for a copy (I got one a couple of weeks after from Element Games), and we hope they do more in this style.
Then we deep dive into the latest narrative weekender that Steve attended, the Whitney Weekender, and get into all the pros (and some slight cons) of this way of gaming. Hopefully this will inspire you all to attend, or even run, one of these mad events. By the end of the chat I seem to have agreed to give it a go myself...
Oh, and we start with some great 3D printing chat as Steve explains why his house is now filling up with cyberpunk firearms.
This episode we get into how the new Age of Sigmar Generals Handbook effected Garry's recent tournament weekend. Steve is still getting fully Nurgled up for his next narrative escapade, but finding time for some Bolt Action and Kill Team.
We also dip into 5 Parsecs From Home, and chat about how we now feel we can't play our games until we've printed & painted the perfect location. Which we're going to use to inspire us as we start to plough through the Horizon Station stretch goals.
We've been away from the mics for June, but back to normal(sporadic) service now. Our 5 Parsecs From Home mini-campaign reaches its climax, and we discuss plans for what's next in the world of Adventure Gaming.
We also chat about the new A2L printer from Bambu Labs, allthe news from GWs latest, bumper reveal show, and Steve's latest cosplayproject.
The Horizon Station Kickstarter is in its last few days, and the UK is melting in an unexpected "heatwave", but Garry and Steve put all of that to one side to talk about narrative gaming preparations (and the most important part, the catering), just how big you can print a Steam Fort, and Garry's trip to Warhammer World. And exactly what he thinks about the new Eltharion rules :-)
But more importantly we run through our latest games of Five Parsecs From Home, which do not disappoint!
Garry and Steve are only mildy frazzled by the stress of launching another Kickstarter into the world. We manage to talk about some other things as well though, including Cogforts, towering scenery builds, and our latest games of Five Parsecs From Home.
And we introduce a new segment to the show, where we roll up our next Five Parsecs missions live! Which works out surprisingly well, and really shows how brilliant its system is for generating narrative gaming hooks. Or maybe we're just good at twisting random dice rolls into the shape we want :-)
In this episode Garry and Steve get into a detailed discussion about terrain as they discuss Dark Fantastic Mills' next Kickstarter, Horizon Station. They also chat about sci-fi films, Kill Team & Boarding Actions, and how their latest 5 Parsecs from Home games went.
In this episode Garry and Steve discuss the new Five Parsecs From Home release, Planetfall, and their top 3 new things it brings to the game. Garry also plays a bit of Fallout Factions, they chat about 3D printing and Steve's reasons for upgrading to a new Bambu printer, and they go over their latest 5 Parsecs adventures.
There's also bit more chat about Dark Fantastic Mills' next Kickstarter, Horizon Station. Sign up for the launch alert!
The Dark Mills are back for more hobby and narrative gaming chat. This episode we ramble our way through a first game of Moonstone, getting to know our new Bambu P2S printer and the second chapter of our Five Parsecs Frome Home campaign. Oh, and we also somehow include Marathon and Doom: Dark Ages in a digression into designing interesting tables for games.
Episode 2 of the DFM Podcast covers our first narrative gaming escapades with 5 Parsecs From Home, some thoughts and tips on printing minis on FDM printers, and our usual digressions into whatever pops into our heads.
The Dark Mills doesn't just make scenery for wargames, it now makes podcasts as well. Hopefully this is the first of many episodes where we let you in on the 'design process' behind the Dark Fantastic Mills' projects. And also a bunch of hobby and narrative chat as we fail to stay on target.
In this episode we chat about scenery and its impact on games (of course), solo/co-op gaming with 5 Parsecs From Home and what we have planned for our next Kickstarter, Horizon Station.
