Hosts Jo Eaton and Vanessa Taholka talk to Chandni Gupta, Policy and Program Director at the Consumer Policy Research Centre, about a recently released report outlining the ways in which Australians have been negatively impacted by harmful online design features called 'dark patterns'. Chandni explains how dark patterns are deceptive designs ranging from features that embed hidden costs into a transaction, to scarcity cues that create a sense of urgency that may not be accurate or even necessary.
