  • Pretty Ugly Book Announcement with Jennifer Gordon #99

It was such a treat to have Jennifer on the show a second time. Listen up for some cool conversations and a few clues on what Jennifer has been up to. We chat about Marvel movies, current culture, traveling, and her new book coming out.

Jennifer is an Award Winning Author, Artist, Podcaster, Dance Instructor, and just a wonderfully dark and funny horror writer.

    About Jennifer Gordon

Jennifer Anne Gordon is a Gothic horror novelist. Her work includes Beautiful, Frightening and Silent (2020) which won the Kindle Award for Best Horror/Suspense for 2020, and From Daylight to Madness (The Hotel book 1), and When the Sleeping Dead Still Talk (The Hotel book 2).

She had a collection of her mixed media artwork published during spring of 2020, entitled Victoriana: mixed media art of Jennifer Gordon
Jennifer is one of the hosts as well as the creator of Vox Vomitus, a video podcast on the Global Authors on the Air Network, as well as the Co-Host of the You Tube Channel “Talk Horror to Me”. She had been a contributor to Ladies of Horror Fiction, as well as Horror Tree.
Jennifer is a pale curly haired ginger, obsessed with horror, ghosts, abandoned buildings, and her dog "Lord Tubby".
She graduated from the New Hampshire Institute of Art, where she studied Acting. She also studied at the University of New Hampshire with a concentration in Art History and English.
She has made her living as an actress, a magician's assistant, a "gallerina", a comic book dealer, a painter, and burlesque performer and for the past 10 years as an award-winning professional ballroom dancer, performer, instructor, and choreographer.
When not scribbling away (ok, typing frantically) she enjoys traveling with her fiancé and dance partner, teaching her dog ridiculous tricks (like 'give me a kiss' and 'what hand is the treat in?' ok these are not great tricks.) as well as taking photos of abandoned buildings and haunted locations.
She is a leo, so at the end of the day she just thinks about her hair.

  • Cthulhu Florida Man Troy Young #98

Ever talk to a guy who has so much going on that it makes you feel like a slouch? Me neither, but Troy came close. We talk about many of his books (and he has a few..check it out) and a few other interesting subjects.

Troy has been many things in his career. Shoe salesman, waiter, newspaper owner, children's performer, actor, elected official, policy advisor, CEO and university lecturer. Now he wants to try his hand at writing.

His first attempt at writing is a novel called The (Extra)ordinary Life of Jimmie Mayfield. The genesis for The (Extra)ordinary Life of Jimmie Mayfield came while going for a walk in Placida, Florida where his parents have a winter home. While he navigates the waters of seeking a publisher for that series of books, he is writing short stories and working on a fantasy series, The Companions of the Stone; the first book "The Stone of Death" is out on September 1, 2020. Also published in September is a space western, "The Seeker of Solace".

Currently, if you are a fan of Lovecraftian Horror, you can delve into his series, The Other. The first compilation is now available, as are the individual stories of book 2. Book two should be available this October, with book 3 available in 2021.
Troy lives in Toronto with his wife, daughter, and dog.

  • What a Riot with Deborah Donahue #97

Big Hair Bands, Classic Rock, and an unforgettable era. That sums up my conversation with the amazing Deborah Donahue. Her book was so much fun for me because it took me back to a simpler time when it was much easier to sneak away from parents and go…well let’s just stick to the interview. It is awesome, educational, and was so much fun.

    About Deborah Donahue

Writing has always been a passion of mine and being able to publish my first book has been one of my greatest achievements so far. I started writing I Used To Live On Banning Street in August of 2012, so it definitely has been a real labor of love. I can't attest as to whether i will ever write another book as I have ideas brewing in my brain to write three different screenplays and hope to branch out into the world of the cinema someday. I hope you enjoy reading I Used To Live On Banning Street as much as I enjoyed writing it. Cheers!

  • The Wild Zombie Lover of Texas KT Wilder #96

KT Wilder’s first book is Between Worlds (Legend of the Starbreather Book 1). We get into the book and also life in Texas during the worst winter storm in years. Trigger warning…we are talking about a fictional virus. If that bothers you, listen to it anyway, it’s pretty cool cause we have Zombies! We also talk about horses and the role they play in KT’s life. Awesome interview with an awesome author.

    About KT Wilder

I've been writing and creating since as far back as I could remember. Fantasy and the paranormal have interested me since the beginning. Writing has always been an escape, a way to process life and better understand myself. My soul, my ideas, my experiences and my own struggles are reflected in my work. Writing has saved my life in many ways.

I live in central Texas with my wife, four dogs, a bearded dragon and two horses. If I'm not writing, I'm either playing with the horses or working as a Physical Therapist Assistant.

Very cool talk with Robert Ottone about his books, short stories, and his publishing house. Spooky House Press sounds like a wonderful place for the right authors to truly share their art. • The Enterprising and Entertaining Paolo Danese #93

Read this man’s bio below, he had led quite a life so far. We have a great conversation on writing and international book markets. It’s especially cool that he owns a company that does quality translations. Based on what I have read in Path of the Guardian, Paolo writes a great book in any language.

Paolo was born in Turin, Italy, in 1984 and grew up in Foggia, a small town in Southern Italy. At 16, he won a United World Colleges scholarship to complete his high school studies in British Columbia, Canada. He then returned to Italy for his BA and MA in Political Sciences.

He moved to Hong Kong in 2011, the same year he published his first Italian-language novel, “La minaccia di Taytos” (published in English in 2020 with the title “The Threat of Taytos”).

He spent a decade in Hong Kong working as a financial journalist and editor for prestigious international trade publications, and then as a VP for a top 5 global PR firm. In 2020, he co-founded WordRevo, a revolutionary company that aims to help writers around the world take their books to all global book marketplaces with an all-in-one translation and self-publishing service.

Paolo is married and has two children.

  • Take a leap with Leslie Conzatti #91

When Leslie told me she was a paraeducator, the first thing I wanted to know is if she gets to jump every day. Once she corrected me, I was still impressed (still would be cool to parachute into school every day).  Leslie wrote Princess of Undersea, a cool spin on a popular fairy tale.

Leslie Conzatti is a blogger, author, and avid enthusiast of all things book-related. Residing in the Pacific Northwest, she currently works as an elementary school paraeducator--leading small groups, supervising children outside the classroom, and providing in-class support for teachers. Since 2013, she has been running a writing/review blog called "The Upstream Writer", where she posts original serials, excerpts from current and past projects, updates on her writing, and featured reviews of independently-published titles. In 2016, she released her first fairy-tale re-telling, Princess of Undersea, a twist on the tale of "The Little Mermaid." Since then, she has had a handful of stories published in various anthologies. Books are Leslie's passion, and she endeavors to use her words to support and inspire children's imaginations, independent creatives, and quality literature wherever it happens.

  • The true Marathon Man Dylan Roche #91

What do you get when a purple bird walks into a bar? I don’t know either, ask Dylan. Dylan and I hit just about everything in this blockbuster interview.

    About Dylan Roche

It should have been a sign to everyone when I started reading Shakespeare and Dickens in elementary school and spent time diagramming sentences for fun. And let's just say love for language, words, and storytelling only grew from there.

After graduating from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's in English, I worried that it was going to be a lifetime of trying to find a practical use for my degree. Fortunately for me (and unfortunately for all the people who want to make cheap jokes about those of us who major in liberal arts), I established myself as a journalist and have pursued publication with local, regional, and national publications.

In 2019, my first novel, The Purple Bird, debuted with Little Creek Books, marking an exciting turn for my career as a writer. I never thought my protagonist, Archit, would become the star of his own series (I told his story! It was time to move on after that book was finished!), but I'll admit I've heard enough enthusiastic response from readers that I'm currently plotting out a series. Stay tuned.

These days, I'm balancing a career encompassing all kinds of writing: journalism, copywriting, blogging, fiction writing, playwriting, editing, and even creative coaching. When I'm not at my desk, I'm usually out for a long-distance run or going on an adventure with my dog, Tyrion the corgi.

  • USA Today Best-Selling Romance Author Melinda Curtis #90

This conversation is packed with excellent information for authors. She has experience with self-publishing, working with big publishers, and even had a movie made from one of her books.

    About Melinda Curtis

Prior to writing romance, Melinda was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat--otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. She recently came to grips with the fact that she's an empty nester and a (very young) grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

"...Wonderfully entertaining..." Jayne Ann Krentz (commenting on Fool for Love)
"Reading Slade and Christine's story reminded me of why I enjoy romance. Season of Change has found a place on my keeper shelf!" Brenda Novak
"Mel Curtis knows romance, sports and humor and she makes all three sing in Playing for Love." Eileen Rendahl
Check out www.MelindaCurtis.com and sign up for her newsletter (there may be free reads involved). "Like" her on Facebook (MelindaCurtisAuthor) for the opportunity to play games and win free stuff.
