Building slow through the sound of Old Tower, Crystal Cage, Christoph de Babalon, and The Vomit Arsonist, Mx brings in the sludge harsh beats of Savier's remix of Mild Maynyrd - a slept on grind of a track. From there they run through the likes of AUDINT, Al Wootton, Facta, Sandwell District, PEEV, Pinch & Mumdance, Planetary Assault Systems, Regis, Vromm, Mondkopf, Museum, Skee Mask, Blueprint, Zenker Brothers, and Fjaak. Closing on Flore's rework of Plaid.

Last night's DSR begins with industrial weight from Emika + Tommy Four Seven, Batu and Katran - shifting into techno cuts from Coefficient, Benjamin Damage, Surgeon, Tomohiko Sagae, and Catharsis. Around the halfway mark, Mx switches it up into breaky tech with DJ Polo, Si Begg, Nikki Nair, before bringing it back into some slamming techno from Roll Dann, Crime as Service, and Lenson in the final stretch. Sprinkled with a few housey cuts from Kyle Hall and Crime Partners too.

Repurposing a late 20th century pop music rhythm, 'Sundaland' drags it into the mist of time. The disembodied guitar scree and bolts of electrical static state the tone as the martial beat rolls on. Named after the lost landmass of Southeast Asia, a victim of forces far beyond those that humanity could claim.

'Whorl Music' relies on ever decreasing cycles of scavenged syncopations. Did Neanderthals know how to jack?

Seismic, sludgy bass guitar riffs bring to bear on ‘Channelled Scablands’ in an evocation of the kind of geological events that occur on our planet - dwarfing humanity’s timeframe and scale of influence.

Drenching the progression and melodies in strained feedback and noise ‘Paintings On The Cave In Your Cranium’ pays tribute to the long ingrained artistic preferences of the Drifters, and to the themes and obsession constants of human history.

FFO : Godflesh, Joy Division, Killing Joke, Neurosis, Sonic Youth
