Surah Muhammad (47:20-26). The need for active participation on the battlefield separated the hypocrites from the believers. In this lecture: spiritual confirmation and submission; peace and security built upon family values; spiritual deafness and blindness as effects; subjective tadabbur; the instigations of the devil; exposing Islam by knowing Islam; gradual reformation.

Surah Muhammad (47:16-19). The munafiqūn in Madinah listened to the prophet’s words and posed questions to the companions as a mockery of the Messenger and the message. In this lecture: knowledge and yaqīn; sealed hearts; elements of Divine Kalām; The Hour and its signs; Giving each other wasiyya for the Haqq; Good deeds as deterrents for The Hour; refreshing our īmān; Istighfār and human imperfection.

Surah Muhammad (47:12-15). The effect of Īmān and good deeds is to have everlasting security. In this lecture: security in this world as a prelude to security in the Hereafter; the objective of entering Jannah; intellectual jihād; the ranks of Jannah; the rivers of Jannah; contemplating (tadabbur) the āyāt of the Quran; the sifah of the Fire.

Surah Muhammad (47:7-11). The sharia does not permit indiscriminate killing, and thus its rules cannot be applied to modern day warfare. In this lecture: the war machine; prisoners of war; the root issue of violence; legal responsibility; sa’ee (effort) is the rule for accomplishments; the station of the Khulafā Al-Rashidīn; guidance in warfare; the scent of Jannah.

The big picture is more sophisticated and has to do with not bartering the Hereafter for the life of this world. In this lecture: the perceived invincibility of the Ād; understanding and the tiers of knowledge; the human mill of sabr; the destruction of the Ād; hearts and the inner ability to think; Divine eloquence that mesmerized the poets among the Quraysh.

Surah Al-Ahqāf (46:10-14). One of the primary functions of the Quran and the Messenger is to confirm the Truth that came before.
