The AFL home and away season is over for another year and the first ever wildcard round is on this weekend.

Round 23 was an exciting round with two draws in the same round including for the first time ever the same two teams Hawthorn and Collingwood tying both their games in a very similar way.

 

The Bulldogs and Carlton were also square after a pulsating match, which has seen the Blues recover from a parlous start of 1 win and 8 losses and sack their coach, Michael Voss and then turn their season around through Interim Coach, Josh Fraser, who after many weeks of speculation applied for the permanent gig and has got it..

 

That Draw has resulted in the Blues playing in the wildcard, only their position in the final round to be decided.

 

There has also been an off field incident at a Melbourne pub on Sunday night after the Swans win over Essendon, which is now in the hands of the police.

 

This could derail the swans' premiership chances as they are two games clear in second and will get two home finals.

Round 22 has been run and won, and the top ten is virtually decided, with the rampaging Blues 2 games clear inside the wildcard qualification with two rounds left.

The other nine spots are all secured, even the Bulldogs, who cemented theirs despite losing to North Melbourne.

Round 19 of the AFL saw Essendon end a 13 match losing streak and beat the inconsistent, GWS Giants, who can beat the best sides but have also lost to the saints twice, West Coast and Essendon.

 

Adelaide also made a statement with a good win over Sydney at the SCG.
