The golf club manufactures are so good at convincing us they have the latest and greatest stuff. That our games are going to improve with all this new technology, engineering and aerodynamics. But when we look on tour, not much has changed the last 3 years, despite all of this technological advances. So what gives? New stuff is great if it is better than your old stuff, if it isn't don't spend your money. Hank Haney has quickly replaced Brandel Chamblee at the most hated man in golf with a dizzying display of racism and insensitivity. When I heard it I couldn't help but cringe, it was so bad. Some of the LPGA Tour Players have the most technically sound swings period, and you would think a "world renown" golf couch would know that and pay some respect to the US Women's Open. Hank Haney has rapidly become public enemy number one in the golf world. What he said in his radio program yesterday concerning the LPGA was mind numbingly stupid. Some of the LPGA Tour Pros have the most technically sounds and beautiful golf swings on earth. You would think a "renown golf coach" would know that and respect their work and talent. Unreal. 

We will discuss the first round leaders of the Memorial, where Ryan Moore and Jordan Spieth went low on a perfectly manicured golf course. It was a great first day. This is a course Ryan Moore always plays well on, similar to Kevin Na on Colonial Country Club. It will be fun to see if Ryan can keep up the strong play and if Jordan's driver continues to cooperate. We will take a look at the data behind their great opening rounds. Let's tee it up.

Jordan set a personal best record through 54 holes of the Charles Schwab Challenge, making everything in sight, but is he back to his old form? We will compare this year's stats to his stats from his banner years in 2015 and 2017 and compare the results. There is much to learn from Jordan's journey for our own games. Let's tee it up!

Kevin Na goes into the final round with the lead, and never looks back, playing solid golf the back nine to enjoy a rather easy win. Earlier in the week Kevin mention how Colonial Country Club is one of only six to eight courses he believes he has a chance to win on anymore, due to the length of some of the course played on the PGA Tour. That is tough to hear, but bombers have a huge advantage in the game now, as the Strokes Gained numbers are proving. We amateurs do not get to practice as much as we want, and when we do have time to practice we aren't totally sure what we need most. Well, let's fix that today, at least with putting. Now that was a golf tournaments. Congrats to the PGA, Bethpage, the PGA Tour. That was an awesome test of golf. What Brooks Koepka did the first two days of the tournaments was astounding. What Dustin Johnson did all four days should have been good enough to win. We will use the data to explain. This is a geeky, data-heavy show, but super interesting IMHO. Bottomline, huge congratulations to Brooks Koepka, who continues to prove his best golf is played when the prizes are the biggest. Back-to-back PGA Championships, and back-to-back US Opens are in the books. Brooks is the Vegas odds-on favorite to win his 3rd US Open in a row at Pebble Beach later this summer. Wow! Brooks Koepka gained over 16 strokes on the field for the first two days of the PGA Championship. It is insane to watch. And he did it as Tiger and the Tiger faithful looked on and watched their hero fail to make the cut.
