In unserer aktuellen Episode des Data& Podcasts sprechen wir über eine Dokumentation, die derzeit in aller Munde ist: Die Netflix Produktion „Das Problem mit den sozialen Medien“ (oder auf englisch: „The social dilemma“) zeigt die Kehrseiten der sozialen Medien auf. Wie wirken sich soziale Medien auf unsere Demokratie aus? Was ist der Einfluss auf die psychische Gesundheit der Menschen aus? Und was ist eigentlich die existenzielle Bedrohung dahinter? Meiner Erfahrung nach kommt in der heutigen Zeit eins zu kurz. Getrieben von den (unbegrenzten) technischen Möglichkeiten und der Angst, Teil der nächsten disruptiven Veränderung zu sein, verlieren Organisationen den Grund aus den Augen, weshalb sie (noch) heute am Markt existieren:
In “Das Zeitalter des Überwachungskapitalismus” nimmt Harvard-Ökonomin Shoshana Zuboff die Wirtschafts- und Gesellschaftsdynamiken unserer Gegenwart auseinander und zeigt auf, wie die Verbreitung von Methoden der Datenauswertung und Verhaltensmanipulation ökonomische und soziale Veränderungen vorantreibt, die den Menschen auf einen Lieferanten von Verhaltensdaten reduzieren. Das Buch macht eindrücklich, warum es um soviel mehr geht als Datenschutz oder Wettbewerbsverzerrung durch Plattform-Riesen. Es geht um Manipulation; um das zielgerichtete Eingreifen in die Realitätserfahrung des Einzelnen als logische Folge eines datengetriebenen Wirtschaftszweiges, der sich nicht länger mit Tracking und Vorhersage von menschlichem Verhalten zufrieden stellt. Es geht um menschliche Souveränität, Autonomie und das Recht auf eine selbstbestimmte Zukunft, welche durch wachsenden Druck verhaltensoptimierender Systeme bedroht sind.
Die Automatisierungspyramide, kaum eine andere Referenzarchitektur ist so omnipräsent, wenn es um die IT-Landschaft von fertigenden Unternehmen geht.
