Marshall Jefferson is one of the founding fathers of house music as it is known today. Born in Chicago in 1959, Marshall was a central figure in the development of the Chicago house scene and produced seminal house anthems including ‘Move Your Body’, ‘7 Ways To Jack’ and ‘Open Our Eyes’. He has worked with the best in the business, from fellow founding father Frankie Knuckles to Roy Davis Jr., Steve ‘Silk’ Hurley, Felix Da Housecat and Lil Louis. Marshall has had a leading hand in the growth of the acid and deep house movements and even today continues to evolve these genres amid dooms-dayers predicting their collective demise.
Initially inspired by rock music, regular trips to Chicago’s famed Music Box Club in the mid-1980s turned Marshall onto the sounds of early house music. Having bought himself a modest synthesiser and sequencer set-up, Marshall began producing his own cuts and passed them onto Ron Hardy of the Music Box Club, who quickly began playing them to the love of the crowd.
Marshall’s first release, 1985’s ‘Go Wild Rhythm Trax’ on Virgo Records, demonstrated Marshall had the talent vital to succeed in such a fickle industry. ‘Move Your Body’, originally a production Marshall had passed onto Ron Hardy, was released on Trax Records in 1986 and is today recognised as a genre-defining release, having been subtitled and acclaimed ‘The House Music Anthem’.
Marshall Jefferson plays a rare disco set alongside Joey Negro (Z Records) at the Tropical Disco Records at Night Tale, Hackney, on Friday June 21st with support from Moodena, Sartorial and Dylan Pasqua. Info at https://www.facebook.com/events/2610219005715701/

AZARI formally of AZARI & III, the influential electronic band who blurred the lines between sounds, scenes, styles and cultures as they repeatedly played all over the world. AZARI is a mysterious embodiment of free thinking and unrestrained creativity that is utterly honest and heartfelt. It’s a social experiment that aims to drive music–rather than the musicians involved–into new realms. Having proven his skills to the world, then, AZARI is focused on saying whatever he wants, however, he wants to say it.
This project is a reaction to perfection and predictability, a reminder that you don’t have to fit in to function. It’s a return to the raw, expressive and rule breaking days of punk and acid house. It embodies forward thinking music, art and visuals that have the power to incite shock and awe. It’s for a generation that looks beyond labels. It’s a project that places equal power with all genders, sexualities and races, and draws in outsiders at odds with the world’s current categories.
AZARI will continue to serve up the deep, aquatic DJ sets that he’s renowned for, headlining shows at festivals like Exit, Sonar, Glastonbury, & Ultra — while bringing you to a new urban utopia with stylistic direction by Brooklyn cyber-art fixture James Moore. It’s unadulterated and uncompromising, and through sounds that are best described as expressive body music, it speaks on a visceral level. It draws inspiration from the carefree creativity of yesteryear and races into unknown futures where anything goes.

International DJ, producer, remixer and label owner Sharam Jey has been shaking up the world of dance music since the early 90s with his infectious and accessible dance-floor ready grooves.
Over the years, the Cologne-based Iran-born artist has racked up numerous accolades and achievements including releasing 3 acclaimed albums (4 Da Loverz in 2005 & In My Blood in 2009, Invisible in 2018), having over 100 releases on some of dance music’s most established labels.
Jey’s success and longevity in the often fickle and fast-paced business of the music industry is a credit to his undeniable talent of being able to push things forward, relate to the masses and standout from the crowd with his own unique brand of house music.
But that’s not all, another huge passion of Jey’s is owning and running the successful record label, Bunny Tiger. His philosophy for the imprint has always been to supply 100% DJ tools from DJs to DJs and since its 2012 conception it’s, come a long way and, become one of Beatport’s top performing labels (Label of the Year Top 10 (2013), 5 overall No1s, 20+ top 10 tracks NuDisco chart). Bunny Tiger is currently celebrating its 5th anniversary with an expanded ‘Best of’ compilation album.
With continued support from key industry players including his latest release on Get Twisted, a busy tour diary and release schedule, Sharam Jey is on a roll and there’s no sign of one of the industry’s hardest workers stopping anytime soon.

GotSome is UK producer and DJ extraordinaire Adam Gorsky, a man who has been on an upward trajectory since his arrival on the international circuit in 2014. In a short space of time, he has clocked up a series of achievements and career highlights that place him at the forefront of this generation of talented British producers. In the earlier days, Adam’s skills spawned a slew of bass-heavy, dance floor destroyers such as ‘Bassline’, championed by Radio 1’s B.Traits and Annie Mac and signed to Defected Records with a huge package of remixes from house legend Kenny Dope, Friend Within, Chus + Ceballos and Chocolate Puma.
Adam’s eclectic tastes and range of skills have seen him collaborate with a who’s who of the industry… he worked with the ‘Godfather of Grime’ Wiley to produce ‘Vibe Out’, which was signed to Chase & Status’ inimitable label MTA Records. His ‘Tell You Why’ EP came out through Monki’s label Zoo Records and his track ‘Colours’ appeared on UKF’s ‘Bass House’ compilation. He has also dropped a succession of equally lauded productions including ‘If You Wanna’ (with Tazer), ‘Move It Back’ (with AC Slater) and ‘Run Di Dance’ (with Jus Now).
From its trail-blazing 90s rave days to giving birth to the world-conquering Tomorrowland, Belgium has long punched above its modest size in the world of electronic music. Now rising star Siege, whose techy take on the house has graced labels from Strictly Rhythm and ABODE Records to Toolroom and Glasgow Underground adds to the influential acts that it has gifted the world.
Raised in Hasselt, outside of Belgium’s best-known clubbing centres, Siege, aka Sieg Motmans, is a beacon for the power of focus and self-determination. From recording tracks off the radio on a tape player given to him by his grandfather to buying a mixer to try to learn to mix with this and a CD player, the desire to play music has always been with him.
Buying his first vinyl turntables before he was old enough to go to a club, instead, he listened to mixes on the internet, using this knowledge to buy the hottest records of the moment. It was after playing his first major gigs just a year or two later, however, that he realised he wanted to similarly inspire others by producing his own tracks. Self-taught by his own dedication and the help of Future Music Magazine, when his first remix stopped just shy of the Beatport House Top Ten his reputation was assured.
Having guaranteed his name back home, shored up by his own roving party Bandar, Siege is fast moving onto the world stage. Catch Belgium’s hottest new export near you very soon.
