Australian bomber pilot Dave Shannon is best remembered for his part in the Dambusters Raid in 1943.  Shannon piloted one of the Lancaster Bombers in the first wave of attacks on the Mohne Dam.  When they were successful with that target they flew to Eder Dam.  The wall of the Dam finally collapsed.  The squadron suffered heavy losses with 8 out of 19 planes lost. Shannon flew 68 missions ending the war as one of Australia’s most highly decorated Aviators.
