Welcome to Episode 10!

Ten episodes! Double digits! That has to be a landmark of some sort right? Thankfully over the past few weeks I've met some incredibly talented artists and this week is no different. I met up with 2/5's of Longfords very own Brave Giant. Brave Giant are a five piece indie/folk band based between Longford and Dublin. Consisting of Podge Gill, Mark Prunty, Ross McNerney, Emmett Collum and David Kilbride the band have been able to establish themselves with a strong foundation in the Irish music scene with their debut release 'The Lordy Lordy EP' reaching number two in the iTunes charts.

They've been selling out gigs left right and centre and more recently played at Electric Picnic to a huge gathering cementing themselves as one of Ireland's brightest talents. I was so fortunate to be able to sit down and talk with the two lads in Dillons, the bar in which they had their very first gig, to talk about their journey as a band so far as well as what the future has to hold. Welcome to Episode 8 of DaveBox

This week I sat down with Mongoose, a four piece band from Dublin and they are *insert expletive here* brilliant.

They played an amazing set over at Electric Picnic and will soon be launching a pop up music event in Dublin soon so be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for that. This was such a lovely chilled chat with a group of very talented artists and as always, we cover a broad range of topics.

We speak about their musical influences, the sensational video for their new single 'Doing Things Wrong' in support of Repeal the 8th, we cover their origin story(everyone needs one of those nowadays) and we are also treated to not one, but two, captivating live performances.

Welcome to Episode 7 of DaveBox!

This week I caught up with Darragh O'Toole who is well known for his role in TV3's hit series Red Rock. He plays the rebellious son of Sergeant Angela Tyrell, Conor who becomes a heroin addict. Within this podcast we talk about many topics ranging from Darragh's research into the life of an addict and how Ireland as a nation deals with their addicts and the common perceptions of those who are stuck in a cycle of drugs. We also talk about the power of Social Media on society both as a positive influence and negative. We talk about his passion for acting and the type of future roles he would like to try out. This was such a hugely entertaining conversation and I really hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Hello everyone!

Welcome to Episode 6 of DaveBox! After a short break I'm delighted to say that I am back in action. This week I'm highlighting the incredible talent within Search Party Animal, a 5 piece band from Dublin.

I was supposed to interview these guys back in June but unfortunately for all of us there was that pesky little thing called the Leaving Cert that got in the way. However I managed to catch up with these guys shortly before they blew everyone away with their killer set over at Knockanstockan. For anyone who hasn't seen these guys perform live its something you need to add to your bucket list they're an absolute tour-de-force and will blow you away.

Listen in to hear us catch up about expectations of the future for themselves, reliving moments from their tour in Canada as well as how they managed to balance writing music and gigging throughout their school life and of course two tracks in Heads High Feet Firm and To an End. These guys have been performing with each other since they were 12 years old and have evolved so quickly and maturely. Definitely ones to watch out for.

Welcome To Episode 5 of DaveBox.

This week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Emma Langford Music and talking about all sorts! We were recording upstairs in Dolans (huge thank you to them for the space) so youre going to hear some background noise but its all good. Adds to the atmosphere. In fact when Emma began to sing we had a few wee listeners so it was all round entertainment for everyone!

She's been hailed as one of most prominent up and coming artists from Limerick and rightly so. This girl has huge talent and for anyone around her EP Launch will be in Dolans Pub on the 18th June.

Emma is seriously going places and I feel so privileged to have been given the chance to interview her before she reaches those dizzying heights so make sure to check out this launch to say you knew her before she was selling out gigs in the 3 Arena!

Welcome to Episode 4 of DaveBox!

This week is an interesting one. I will be talking with Declan Drohan who is the front man and lead singer of Dark Town. This fantastic band from the West of Ireland have been working meticulously on crafting a new album, they’ve been playing gigs all over the country including Vantastival. Declan is also a lecturer of performing arts I once had the privilege of being taught by this man. I have always had great time for Declan and was delighted to sit down with him and chat about his band, parenthood, his career in the arts life death and everything in between. We are also being given not one, but TWO, exclusive tracks from their upcoming album She Knows and The New House.
