Abigail Disney (granddaughter of Walt’s brother, Roy) has been in the news recently as a critic of the Disney Company.  I wanted to discuss some of her comments and expand on them a bit with my own thoughts.

This is a retrospective of the epcot pavilion The Living Seas. It opened a few years after epcot, but it was a marvel of sorts and fit in thematically with the nature of epcot in that part of future world. I talk about the history and how it became what it is today.

Walt Disney had a plan for urban design - and a central theme was how to get people around his city of tomorrow.  He envisioned monorails for longer trips, and a peoplemover for local circuits.  The WED designers laid out plans for both, and prototyped the people mover in DIsneyLand before it opened in Florida.  It is a clever and innovative means of transportation that never seemed to catch on.  I talk about it, and play the audio tracks that were on the attraction over the years.

Disney lays off 28,000. The pandemic rages on. Changes are coming to movies and movie distribution. It’s the end of the NBA bubble. Nah. There isn’t much to talk about at all.

I happened to be in Orlando a week or so ago, and took a short drive around property. It was interesting to say the least, so I talk about it. I’m also introducing a new segment I’m calling “one little spark” as kind of a call to action for things we can do to be more engaged in societal issues.
