He plans to retire within the next few years and live close to the beach so he can spend more time outdoors with his family. David Batkins studied at the Thomas Nelson Community College and gained an Associate's Degree in Police Science.

David Batkins and his K-9 partner, King apprehended numerous burglary suspects as well as tracking and locating missing people. David Batkins worked as a Trooper on the Eastern Shore of Virginia during which time he made several successful interdiction stops before gaining promotion. David’s most successful stop was the seizure of $114,170 in unclaimed currency, a small amount of cocaine, untaxed liquor and an illegal firearm. Information was developed that these persons were part of an international drug ring that were moving multiple loads of cocaine across the country, The Assistant United States Attorney (ASSA) adopted and successfully prosecuted the case.
