While Jerry Garcia collaborated with dozens of artists beyond fronting the Grateful Dead and The Jerry Garcia Band, few are as recognizable in name as David “Dawg” Grisman. As you’ll soon hear, their relationship was initially happenstance but as time wore on, it was inevitable that these two geniuses would meet and collaborate in both live and studio settings. David Grisman, roots music guru, multi-instrumentalist who is probably most famous for his masterful mandolin playing has released a series of “bare bone” acoustic Garcia and Grisman recordings dubbed Bare Bones. Two of these volumes have already released, the first on Jerry Garcia’s 82nd birthday just a few weeks back. A third will be released August 30th by Acoustic Disc.
