Payrolls, to say that was a shock, would be the understatement of the day. Non farm payrolls came in below Wall Street's most bearish estimate, showing just 194k were added to the payrolls in September.

Imagine being the research group at Goldman Sachs right now. Talk about egg on your face. Goldman rushed to report that they felt payrolls would expand by 600k. Or more than three times higher, what were the actual numbers.

The importance of today's job numbers is that it will confirm the Federal Reserve's goal of tapering the stimulus program. If the labor market is strong, goes the reasoning, then reducing the Fed's monthly bond purchases would be in order.

If you thought that it was suspiciously quiet on the Evergrande front this week, you were right. Chinese Financial markets were closed for a holiday. But tonight, about the time we're settling in with that night-cap, Chinese markets will re-open on their Friday morning.

As it becomes increasingly obvious that the eyes of the whole world are focused on Evergrande, the major Chinese Real Estate company which skates closer and closer to financial disaster.

But all that didn't matter to stocks. They heard what they wanted to hear. The debt ceiling is taken care of, and Wall Street has been off to the races ever since. The Dow is up nearly one full percent, as is NASDAQ, with the S&P right behind.

Stocks roared out of the starting gate this morning. As it was confirmed by Majority Leader Chuck Schummer that the Senate had indeed reached a debt ceiling agreement. Add another $480 billion dollars to our debt, until we can figure things out in December.
