The Bible says that our "heart determines the course of our life". With this in mind, we must be aware of even the small cracks that we leave open to the enemy. This awareness is important because when we give the enemy an inch, he takes a mile and entices us deeper in our mess than we expect.

But even when we do grant the wrong things access to our heart, freedom is still available! We receive redemption when we take charge over the enemy and by keeping our spiritual awareness up and seeking God to renew our hearts and minds. When we guard our thoughts and seek the Lord for spiritual discernment, He helps us even in times when we may mess up.
