We are jumping back into our message series: “OVERCOMER: Winning Against the 7 Deadly Sins” - “Contentment vs. Envy.”

This Sunday we tackle the tricky topic of Self-Control vs. Gluttony.

Every element of the service is designed to help us deal with the many temptations all around us every day. From the opening song, to a moment featuring the song "Beautiful Things", to the message based on the Old Testament book of Song of Solomon (you might blush), to a moving closing prayer time, we are expecting God's Spirit to work in all our hearts.

This week it is Overcoming Sloth through Diligence. Of course the whole idea of sloth sounds rather archaic these days - doesn't it? Scripture is full of insight into the hows and whys of being more diligent, active and energetic in living out our Christian spirituality.

This Sunday we continue our Overcomer Series with a message all about Generosity overcoming the deadly sin of Greed. Of course this topic only applies to people who are tempted to want more and bigger and better and newer stuff more often than we really need it. Did I say "we?" I guess that's because I'm pretty sure it applies to us all at one time or another.

This Sunday marks the first of seven weekends committed to the study of how we can Overcome evil, by the grace of God. It all begins with Humility - perhaps the most misunderstood of all the spiritual virtues. Typically when we think of being humble - we think of being weak or lacking confidence. The truth is that God's Word gives us an entirely different perspective.
