Davut was a teacher in Turkey, he talks about being a political activist concerned with human rights and having to flee to avoid persecution to the UK. The challenges he faced having to find his way in a new country, With English being his second language he was able to support the human rights of families of children with additional needs. Davut talks about his journey through working as a translator for Haringey Local Authority to becoming a parent support advisor. Having studied many courses in Special Educational Needs support as well as having his own teaching background he quickly became a great help to parents in the borough. Davut works in a local charity where he continued his training, he completed all levels of the IPSEA, code of practice for children with SEN, their rights and the law. He set up a Turkish speaking group in the local community and supports parents needing to go to tribunals.
