From the ancient archives of Dawson’s Den, Will talks a bit about his habit of readin’ detective novels — the kind where the hero’s coat never quite dries and the streetlights flicker like they owe somebody money. A commercial for Prairie Bits Cereal pops in, cheerful as a rooster that don’t know it’s sellin’ grain.
Then comes the Den’s first stumble into Red Shirts: Tales of a Wyoming Game Warden. The sound effects were… enthusiastic, if not accurate. And the theme? Borrowed from Johnnie Black: Private Eye and stitched together with electronic music that sounded like it was generated by a toaster havin’ second thoughts.
But the heart was honest. You can hear a host still findin’ his trail — tryin’ things, missin’ things, learnin’ the shape of the Den one creaky step at a time. A well‑meanin’ relic from the days when the show was still decidin’ what it wanted to be when it grew up.
LJ from Sheridan’s own Cowboy Creamery stops by the Den to talk Western‑style ice cream — the handcrafted kind that still tastes like summer even when the nights start coolin’. We wander through a few of his signature flavors, from Cowgirl Coffee to that prickly‑pear number that tastes like it rode in straight off the high desert, and folks get a kick out of hearin’ how he uses more cream than the big brands ever dare.
We check who’s wanderin’ through the Critter Corner, and Will fields a fresh batch of mail in The Answer Is No!.
