Names matter when trust is on the line. Moses knows the Israelites may ask who sent him.
Moses asks what he should say when the Israelites ask for the name of the God who sent him. God answers, “I AM WHO I AM,” and tells Moses to say, “I AM has sent me to you.” He also identifies Himself as the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying this is His name forever.
In John 8, Jesus says, “Before Abraham was, I am.” The people understand the weight of that claim. Jesus is identifying Himself with the divine name revealed to Moses.
God is self-existent, faithful, and unchanging. “I AM” means He does not depend on Egypt, Pharaoh, Moses, or Israel’s strength.
Jesus’ “I am” claim shows that the Deliverer God of Exodus has come near in person. He enters our bondage, confronts sin, and gives His life to set captives free.
Choose one fear that feels bigger than God’s promise. Speak God’s name over it: “Lord, You are I AM.” Then write one sentence about what that means for your fear, your obedience, and your next step.

REFLECT & RESPOND
Key Line: God’s name is stronger than the fear that asks who will be enough.
Reflection Question: What fear needs to be answered by who God is, not by what you can control?
Practice: Write “Lord, You are I AM” above one fear and pray over it before acting.

PRAYER
Lord, You are I AM. You do not depend on my strength, my clarity, or my control. Help me trust Your name when circumstances feel bigger than faith.
