Not every sincere-looking act honors God. That can be hard to hear in a world that often says intention is all that matters.

Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each take a censer, put fire and incense in it, and offer unauthorized fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded. Fire comes out from before the Lord and consumes them, and they die before Him.

Hebrews 12 calls believers to offer acceptable worship with reverence and awe, because our God is a consuming fire. Nadab and Abihu’s deaths echo that warning.

God is holy and must be honored as holy by those who come near Him. He is not controlled by priestly status, family connection, or religious activity.

Nadab and Abihu are consumed for unauthorized worship, but Jesus opens the only safe way into God’s holy presence. He offers not strange fire, but Himself in perfect obedience.

Ask whether any part of your worship or obedience is being shaped more by preference than by God’s word. Choose one specific way to honor what God has actually said, even if it challenges your comfort.

Some moments make everyone stop talking. Not because the room is awkward, but because something greater than words has happened.

After offering sacrifices for himself, Aaron presents the people’s offerings. He offers the goat for the sin offering, then the burnt offering, grain offering, ox, and ram for peace offerings, exactly as the Lord commanded.

Revelation 15 shows the redeemed singing, “Great and amazing are Your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty.” That praise echoes moments like Leviticus 9, when God’s people see His holy power and respond with awe. The fire at the altar previews the final worship of all nations before the God whose righteous acts are fully revealed.

God is glorious, holy, and responsive to the worship He commands. He does not leave Israel guessing whether the priestly offerings matter.

The fire consumes the offering God accepts, pointing forward to Jesus, the offering who fully satisfies God’s holy will. At the cross, Christ gives Himself for sinners.

Before asking God for anything, spend one minute praising Him for who He is. Use specific words: holy, mighty, merciful, faithful, simply, near.

Starting a new responsibility can feel heavy when you understand what is at stake. Aaron’s first priestly acts are not casual or self-directed.

On the eighth day, Moses calls Aaron, his sons, and the elders of Israel. Aaron must take a calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, while the people bring a goat for a sin offering, a calf and lamb for burnt offerings, an ox and ram for peace offerings, and a grain offering.

Hebrews 4 says we have a great High Priest, Jesus the Son of God, who sympathizes with our weaknesses yet is without sin. Because of Him, we can draw near to the throne of grace for mercy and help.

God’s glory is connected to atonement, not human enthusiasm. Moses says the Lord will appear, and the priests begin with sacrifice.

Jesus is the High Priest who needs no offering for His own sin. He offers Himself for ours.

Before giving advice, leading, posting, or correcting someone, bring your own need to Jesus first. Ask for mercy and help.

Jesus, my great High Priest, thank You that You are without sin and still compassionate toward my weakness. I need mercy before I try to help anyone else. Bring me to the throne of grace, and make my service humble, honest, and dependent on You.

DAY 202: Seven Days of Consecration

Some preparation cannot be rushed. You might want to skip straight to the role, the event, the platform, or the visible responsibility, but God often works through waiting, repetition, and obedience.

Moses tells Aaron and his sons to boil the flesh of the ordination offering at the entrance of the tent of meeting and eat it with the bread from the ordination basket. Whatever remains must be burned.

Hebrews 10 says we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, with hearts sprinkled clean and bodies washed with pure water. Aaron’s sons had to wait through seven days of consecration.

God forms His servants through obedience over time. He does not treat consecration as a quick ceremony with no weight.

Jesus opens the holy places through His blood. He fulfills what priestly consecration pointed toward and gives believers clean access to God.

Stay faithful in one unseen obedience you are tempted to rush past. Finish the preparation, keep the commitment, practice the discipline, or remain where God has placed you without demanding immediate visibility.

DAY 201: Sacrifices for Consecration

Being set apart for God is not a light thing. In Leviticus 8, consecration involves sacrifice, blood, oil, and public obedience.

Moses brings forward the bull for the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons lay their hands on its head. Moses kills it, puts blood on the altar’s horns, purifies the altar, and burns the fat, while the rest is burned outside the camp.

Hebrews 7 says Jesus does not need to offer sacrifices daily, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, because He did this once for all when He offered Himself. Leviticus shows priests needing sacrifice before service.

God claims the whole servant. Blood touches ear, hand, and foot, showing that listening, action, and movement belong to Him.

Jesus is both Priest and sacrifice. He offers Himself once for all, not because He needs cleansing, but because we do.

Choose one part of your body as a focus for obedience: ears, hands, feet, eyes, or mouth. Ask how it can belong to Jesus today, then use it in one specific act of holiness or service.

Being placed into a role can feel exciting, but it should also make you humble. Aaron and his sons are not stepping into priesthood because they are naturally impressive.

The Lord tells Moses to gather Aaron, his sons, the garments, anointing oil, sacrifices, and the congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting. Moses tells the people that this is what the Lord commanded.

Hebrews 5 says every high priest is chosen from among people and appointed to act on their behalf before God, and no one takes this honor for Himself. Aaron’s washing and clothing show that priesthood is not self-made.

God prepares people for service His way. He does not allow Aaron to invent His own priestly identity.

Aaron is washed and clothed, but Jesus is the greater High Priest who is holy in Himself. He does not need cleansing for His own sin.

Ask God to prepare you before He uses you. Name one area where you want influence or responsibility.

Some boundaries teach you what is sacred. Leviticus 7 commands Israel not to eat fat or blood.

The Lord tells Moses that Israel must not eat the fat of cattle, sheep, or goats, especially from animals offered to the Lord. They must not eat blood from birds or animals in any of their dwelling places.

Hebrews 9 says that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Leviticus treats blood as sacred because life belongs to God, and blood is central to atonement.

God is the Lord of life. Blood is not ordinary because life is not ordinary.

Jesus sheds His blood for the forgiveness of sins. He fulfills what Leviticus guarded and anticipated.

Take one minute to consider the cost of forgiveness. Say, “Jesus shed His blood for me.” Then respond with one act of reverence: confess sin, stop a careless habit, or thank Him in writing.

Meals can say more than words. Who sits at the table, what is shared, and whether people are welcome can reveal the state of a relationship.

Leviticus 7 gives instructions for peace offerings. If the offering is given for thanksgiving, it includes unleavened cakes mixed with oil, wafers, and cakes of fine flour, along with leavened bread.

First Corinthians 10 speaks of the cup and bread as participation in the blood and body of Christ, and says that because there is one bread, believers are one body. The peace offering’s shared meal echoes this truth.

God invites His people into fellowship, not only forgiveness at a distance. The peace offering includes gratitude, shared eating, and joy before Him.

Jesus brings true peace with God and gathers His people around Himself. Through His death and resurrection, He creates fellowship deeper than shared interests, personality, or background.

Share one act of fellowship intentionally. Eat with someone, pray with someone, or encourage someone in Christ.

Guilt has a way of sticking to people. You can distract yourself, explain yourself, or compare yourself to someone worse, but guilt still asks to be dealt with.

The Lord gives Moses instructions for the priests about sin offerings and guilt offerings. The sin offering is most holy and must be killed in the place where the burnt offering is killed.

Hebrews 9 says Christ entered the greater and more perfect tent, not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood, securing eternal redemption. Leviticus shows repeated sacrifices handled by priests in holy places.

God is holy enough that sin cannot be brushed aside, and merciful enough to provide atonement. He gives specific instructions because guilt is too serious for human invention.

Jesus fulfills the sin and guilt offerings by giving His own blood. He does not merely cover guilt temporarily; He secures eternal redemption.

Name one guilt you keep managing instead of bringing to Jesus. Confess it plainly.

Faithfulness often looks like tending what no one applauds. A fire must be kept burning.

The Lord gives Moses instructions for Aaron and his sons. The burnt offering remains on the altar through the night, and the fire must be kept burning.

Hebrews 7 says Jesus is holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. Unlike the priests, He does not need to offer sacrifices daily for His own sins and then for the people’s.

God values continual faithfulness. The altar fire must not go out, and even ashes must be handled according to His command.

Jesus fulfills what daily offerings could never complete. He does not tend an altar for His own sin.

Choose one small holy routine to tend today: five minutes in Scripture, confession before sleep, prayer before school or work, or one quiet act of service. Do it because Jesus’ finished work makes your daily obedience meaningful.
