Returning to a place connected with fear can bring up old memories fast. Moses left Egypt as a fugitive.
Moses asks Jethro for permission to return to Egypt, and Jethro sends him in peace. The Lord tells Moses that the men seeking His life are dead.
Exodus 3:18 prepared Moses to gather the elders and go to Pharaoh with the request to worship the Lord in the wilderness. Exodus 4 shows that word beginning to unfold.
God is both compassionate and holy. He has seen Israel’s affliction, but He also takes covenant obedience seriously in Moses’ own household.
Moses returns to Egypt to announce deliverance for God’s firstborn son, Israel. Jesus, the true Son, comes into the world to accomplish the greater deliverance.
Think of one place where obedience requires you to return to something hard: a conversation, responsibility, apology, or neglected commitment. Ask God for courage and holiness together.

REFLECT & RESPOND
Key Line: God’s rescue does not cancel His holiness; it brings you under His faithful rule.
Reflection Question: Where is God calling you back to obedience in a place you would rather avoid?
Practice: Take one first step toward a hard obedience you have delayed.

PRAYER
God, help me obey when returning feels hard. Keep me from wanting Your comfort while ignoring Your holiness. Thank You for giving Your word, Your help, and Your presence.
