A family record can feel like a pause button in the middle of action. Moses is about to confront Pharaoh, then Exodus stops to list names.

Exodus lists the heads of Israel’s families, beginning with Reuben and Simeon, then focusing on Levi. Levi’s sons are Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Numbers 26 names the Levitical clans and identifies Jochebed as the mother of Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. That later record confirms the importance of this family line.

God works through particular people in particular families. He knows names, parents, clans, and generations.

The Bible’s genealogies prepare us to receive Jesus as the Savior who enters a real human line. He is not an idea or legend.

Write your family name or the names of people who shaped you. Thank God for any good you received, and name any pain honestly.

REFLECT & RESPOND

Key Line: Your family story may shape you, but it does not get to save or define you.

Reflection Question: How has your family background shaped the way you see yourself, God, or your future?

Practice: Write one gift and one pain from your family story, then pray over both honestly.

PRAYER

God, You know my family story in full. Thank You for the gifts in it, and meet me with mercy in the painful parts. Help me honor where I come from without being ruled by it.
