People can depend on something so much that they forget it is not God. Egypt depends on the Nile for water, food, farming, transportation, and life.
The Lord tells Moses that Pharaoh’s inner life is hard and he refuses to let the people go. Moses is to meet Pharaoh by the Nile with the staff that became a serpent.
Revelation 16 describes waters turning to blood as part of God’s final judgment. That echoes the plague in Egypt and shows that the Lord who judged Pharaoh is still the Judge of the earth.
God rules over creation and confronts false security. The Nile is not beyond His reach.
The Nile turns to blood in judgment, but Jesus gives His blood for salvation. God’s judgment against sin is real, and the cross shows it more deeply than any plague.
Name one thing you rely on for security more than you rely on God. Do not shame yourself; be honest.

REFLECT & RESPOND
Key Line: God may touch what you trust most to show you it was never meant to be your god.
Reflection Question: What would feel most threatening to lose because it has become your source of security?
Practice: Loosen your grip on one false security today through a specific limit, fast, or act of trust.

PRAYER
Lord, show me the false securities I treat like they can give me life. I confess that I trust created things too easily. Teach me to receive Your gifts without worshiping them.
