Pride can make a person keep choosing destruction even when everyone else can see the damage. Pharaoh’s servants finally ask him, “Do you not yet understand that Egypt is ruined?” But Pharaoh still tries to negotiate obedience on his terms.
The Lord tells Moses to go to Pharaoh because He has hardened Pharaoh’s inner life and the hearts of His servants so His signs may be told to future generations. Moses warns Pharaoh that locusts will cover Egypt and eat what remains after the hail.
Joel 2 speaks of God restoring the years the locusts have eaten. That echoes the devastation locusts represent throughout Scripture.
God’s signs are meant to be remembered and retold. He tells Moses that future generations should know His power over Egypt.
The locusts devour what remains, but Jesus comes to restore what sin has wasted. He bears judgment at the cross and rises with life that cannot be consumed.
Ask where you have offered God partial obedience. Name the part you want to keep back.

PRAYER
Lord, I see how easily I negotiate obedience. I want to give You parts of my life while keeping control of others. Forgive my pride.
