A doorway can become the line between danger and safety. On Passover night, Israel’s homes are not protected because the people inside are stronger, smarter, or less needy than Egypt.

Moses calls Israel’s elders and tells them to choose lambs for their families, kill the Passover lamb, and put its blood on the doorframes with hyssop. No one is to go outside until morning.

John 1 records John the Baptist seeing Jesus and saying, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” Passover night helps you feel the weight of that title. Jesus is not only gentle or innocent.

God is Judge and Rescuer. He does not ignore Pharaoh’s violence, Egypt’s oppression, or human sin.

Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away sin. At the cross, He bears judgment so His people can be spared.

Picture a doorway you use often. When you pass through it today, remember Passover and say quietly, “Jesus, You are my shelter.” Let that doorway remind you where your safety before God comes from.

REFLECT & RESPOND

Key Line: The blood of the Lamb is the only safe place when judgment is real.

Reflection Question: Are you more tempted toward pride that denies your need for rescue or despair that doubts God’s mercy?

Practice: Each time you pass through one chosen doorway today, whisper, “Jesus, You are my shelter.”

PRAYER

Jesus, Lamb of God, thank You for taking away sin and becoming my shelter from judgment. Keep me from pride that thinks I do not need rescue and despair that thinks I am beyond mercy. Help me trust Your blood and live in Your freedom.
