DAY 137: 2 Samuel 16–18

2 Samuel 16–18 brings us to the tragic climax of Absalom’s rebellion as David flees Jerusalem humiliated and broken while a false king temporarily seizes power through manipulation and betrayal. These chapters reveal the collision between human rebellion and divine sovereignty, showing that even when the kingdom appears unstable and the rightful king appears defeated, God’s covenant purposes continue moving forward beneath the visible chaos. They ultimately point to Christ, the greater Son of David, who also crossed the Mount of Olives rejected and betrayed, yet whose kingdom could not be overthrown by suffering, death, or rebellion, but was established forever through His resurrection and eternal reign.
