Hunger can make the past look better than it was. Israel remembers Egypt as a place of meat pots and full bread, not slavery and oppression.
Israel travels into the wilderness of Sin, and the whole congregation grumbles against Moses and Aaron. They say they wish they had died in Egypt, where they sat by meat pots and ate bread, instead of being brought into the wilderness to die of hunger.
In John 6, Jesus reminds the crowd that Moses did not give the true bread from heaven; the Father gives the true bread. Then Jesus says, “I am the bread of life.” The manna fed Israel temporarily, but Jesus fulfills the sign by giving Himself as the One who satisfies our deepest hunger forever.
God is generous even when His people grumble. He hears their complaint and gives bread, but He also gives instructions that train dependence.
Manna points to Jesus, the true Bread from heaven. He does not merely give food; He gives Himself.
Before eating today, pause and ask what hunger or craving is loudest in you besides food. Bring that desire to Jesus, the Bread of Life.

REFLECT & RESPOND
Key Line: God gives daily bread to train daily trust.
Reflection Question: What old bondage starts looking attractive when your needs or cravings feel urgent?
Practice: Before one meal today, name a deeper hunger to Jesus and ask Him to satisfy you.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for daily bread and for Jesus, the true Bread of Life. Forgive me when I remember old slavery as if it were safety. Feed my trust one day at a time.
