Waiting below the mountain can be hard when someone else is called higher. You may not understand what God is doing, why it takes so long, or why you are not the one with the clearest view.

The Lord tells Moses to come up the mountain and stay there so He can give him stone tablets with the law and commandments for Israel’s instruction. Moses rises with Joshua, tells the elders to wait, and leaves Aaron and Hur to handle disputes.

Second Peter 1 remembers another mountain where Peter, James, and John saw Jesus’ majesty and heard the Father’s voice from the Majestic Glory. Sinai’s glory echoes forward to the transfiguration.

God reveals Himself with glory and gives instruction for His people. His presence appears like consuming fire, not a casual glow.

Moses goes up the mountain to receive God’s commands, but Jesus comes down as God’s final Word in flesh. On the mountain of transfiguration, His glory shines, and the Father says to listen to Him.

Open Scripture before seeking a sign or emotional boost. Read a small section slowly and ask, “What has God actually said?” Write one sentence of obedience from what you read.

PRAYER

God of glory, help me receive Your word with reverence. Keep me from chasing dramatic moments while ignoring what You have spoken. Thank You for Jesus, Your beloved Son and living Word.
