Some places carry serious meaning. A courtroom bench, a hospital bed, a dinner table, or a grave can make you stand differently because you know something weighty happens there.
God commands Israel to make an ark of acacia wood overlaid with pure gold, with a gold molding around it. It will have rings and poles so it can be carried without being handled casually.
Hebrews 9 describes the Most Holy Place with the ark, the covenant tablets, and the cherubim overshadowing the mercy seat. It looks back at the tabernacle and shows that these holy objects pointed beyond themselves.
God is holy, yet He provides a place of meeting. The ark holds His testimony, reminding Israel that His presence is never separated from His word.
The mercy seat points to Jesus, the true place where God meets sinners with mercy. At the cross, Christ fulfills the need for atonement by shedding His own blood.
Before you pray, remember that you come to God through mercy, not merit. Say, “God, I come because of Jesus.” Then speak honestly, without pretending your record is stronger than it is.

REFLECT & RESPOND
Key Line: You do not create access to God; you receive the mercy He provides.
Reflection Question: Where are you trying to approach God through your own record instead of through Christ’s mercy?
Practice: Begin one prayer today by saying, “God, I come because of Jesus.”

PRAYER
God, You are holy, and I need mercy to come near. Thank You for providing access through Jesus instead of leaving me to stand on my own record. Teach me to honor Your word and trust Your mercy.
