DAY 159: Proverbs 16–18

Proverbs 16–18 shifts the focus from personal wisdom to the sovereign rule of God over every area of life. These chapters remind us that wisdom begins by recognizing that we are not ultimately in control. People make plans, pursue goals, form opinions, and seek success, but the Lord directs their steps, weighs their motives, and governs every outcome according to His purposes. Through repeated contrasts between humility and pride, wisdom and folly, peace and strife, Solomon shows that true wisdom flows from living beneath God’s kingship. These chapters also emphasize the power of speech, the value of faithful friendships, the importance of righteous leadership, and the stability that comes from trusting God rather than ourselves. Ultimately, they point us to Jesus Christ, the true King whose perfect wisdom, humility, and obedience reveal what it means to live fully under the rule of God.
