Rest can feel almost impossible when your worth feels tied to output. There is always another assignment, shift, notification, practice, or expectation waiting.

The Lord tells Moses to command Israel to keep His Sabbaths because the Sabbath is a sign between God and His people throughout their generations. It shows that the Lord sanctifies them.

In Mark 2, Jesus says the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, and that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. He does not dismiss Sabbath; He reveals its true purpose.

God is the One who sanctifies His people. Sabbath reminds Israel that holiness is not produced by nonstop effort.

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and the One who gives true rest. Through His death and resurrection, He frees us from trying to earn acceptance through work, performance, or religious striving.

Choose one small Sabbath-like pause. Put your phone away for fifteen minutes, stop working at a set time, or sit quietly without proving anything.

REFLECT & RESPOND

Key Line: Rest is an act of trust that God holds your life together when you stop producing.

Reflection Question: What fear rises in you when you stop working, scrolling, performing, or proving yourself?

Practice: Take a fifteen-minute pause today with no phone, work, or entertainment, and use it to trust God.

PRAYER

Lord, I struggle to rest because I want control and approval. Teach me to receive limits as a gift from You. Thank You that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and that His finished work is enough.
