What do you reach for when waiting gets uncomfortable?

In today’s episode of Five Minute Bible, we stay with Genesis 16–18, where God’s promise feels slow and human weakness feels louder. Years have passed. Nothing seems to be happening. Abraham is still landless. Sarah is still childless. Time keeps moving—and faith is tested not by danger, but by delay.

These chapters press a familiar temptation to the surface. When God’s promises feel distant, we start reaching for control. We plan. We compensate. We try to help God along. And in doing so, we often create consequences we never intended.

As you read today, consider this guiding question:
What do I rely on when trust feels costly and waiting feels endless?

Listen for the tension between promise and impatience, between human ability and divine power. Pay attention to the laughter—not the laughter of joy, but the laughter of disbelief. Because buried in these chapters is a question that still confronts every generation: Is anything too hard for the Lord?
