Today we’re in John 18, where Jesus is betrayed, bound, arrested, and brought to trial. It looks like His lowest and weakest moment, yet one truth stands out. Jesus is never out of control, even when the circumstances suggest otherwise.
When the soldiers come to arrest Him and ask who He is, Jesus steps forward and says, “I am He.” At His words, they fall to the ground. Even in surrender, Christ is still sovereign. He isn’t a victim of events. He’s walking in obedience to a divine mission.
Standing before Pilate, Jesus declares, “My kingdom is not of this world.” He reminds us that our hope isn’t anchored in human systems, approval, or outcomes. Our identity and security come from a higher kingdom.
This chapter encourages us to stand firm in truth, even when it’s costly. Jesus didn’t compromise who He was to avoid suffering. And because He stood faithful, we can trust Him with our fear, uncertainty, and silence.
If life feels chaotic today, remember this. Christ is still reigning. Truth still matters. And God is often doing His greatest work in our weakest moments.
