In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading Exodus 28–31, where God shows Israel what it looks like for a sinful people to live near a holy God.
We step into the priestly garments, the ordination of Aaron and his sons, and the daily rhythms of sacrifice and incense. Nothing here is random. Every thread, stone, and symbol is preaching: God provides a mediator, God makes a way for atonement, and God intends to dwell with His people without consuming them. Then the Lord anchors it all with the Sabbath, reminding Israel that worship is not just what they do for God, but trusting what God does for them. Even the craftsmen are filled with the Spirit, because building God’s house is holy work too.
These chapters are a window into God’s mercy, and they point us forward to Jesus, our true High Priest, who brings us all the way in.
If you haven’t read Exodus 28–31 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
