In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re finishing Exodus with chapters 37–40, where everything God commanded is built, assembled, and set in place, and the story ends with one breathtaking truth: God moves in.

These chapters are full of repetition, and that’s the point. Again and again we hear, “just as the Lord commanded Moses,” because obedience is not decoration. It’s the shape of a people who’ve been rescued by grace. The tabernacle furnishings are crafted, the priestly garments are completed, and Moses inspects the work, blessing the people, echoing the pattern of creation itself.

And then the finale: the cloud descends, the glory of the Lord fills the tabernacle, and Israel is guided by God’s presence through the wilderness. Exodus ends not with Israel’s strength, but with God dwelling with His people, leading them, staying with them, and making a way for sinners to live near a holy God. And that points us forward to Jesus, the true tabernacle, where God comes all the way to us.

If you haven’t read Exodus 37–40 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
