In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re opening Leviticus 1–6, where God teaches a rescued people how sinners can draw near to a holy Lord.

These chapters walk through the major offerings: burnt, grain, peace, sin, and guilt. On the surface it can feel repetitive and unfamiliar, but underneath it’s the mercy of God spelled out in detail. Every sacrifice is a sermon: sin is serious, atonement requires blood, and God Himself provides the way back into fellowship. Leviticus isn’t about Israel climbing up to God. It’s about God making a path for broken people to live in His presence without being destroyed.

And as we read, we’re meant to see the shadow and the substance. The smoke, the blood, the priests, the altar, the “without blemish” language, all of it is pointing forward to Jesus, the final sacrifice and the true mediator, who doesn’t just cover sin for a moment, but takes it away.
