In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading Leviticus 7–12, where God continues teaching Israel how a holy God can dwell with an unholy people.

These chapters wrap up instructions for the offerings and shift into the daily rhythms of holiness. We see the priests’ role clarified, clean and unclean foods distinguished, and then laws dealing with childbirth and the reality of uncleanness. It’s not that bodies are “bad.” It’s that everything about human life, from the dinner table to the delivery room, is touched by the fall. God is training His people to take sin seriously, to recognize impurity, and to trust His provision for cleansing.

And behind all the details is a consistent mercy: God never exposes uncleanness without also providing a way back. These laws are tutoring Israel to long for something greater, and they point us to Jesus, who fulfills what the sacrifices and washings only signaled. He does not just manage uncleanness. He removes it, and brings us near with confidence.

If you haven’t read Leviticus 7–12 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
