In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading Numbers 11–18, where the journey to the promised land turns into a mirror of the human heart.

The people grumble, crave Egypt, and despise God’s provision. Leaders crack under pressure. Spies see giants and the congregation chooses fear over faith. Then rebellion multiplies, not just against Moses, but against the Lord Himself, as Korah and others challenge God’s appointed order. Again and again, sin spreads through the camp like a wildfire.

But these chapters are not only about Israel’s failure. They’re about God’s patience and holiness. Judgment falls, mercy is offered, and God confirms His chosen priesthood, showing that access to Him is never self-appointed. He provides mediators, boundaries, and a way for His presence to remain with His people without destroying them.

Numbers 11–18 presses one question on us: will we trust God’s Word in the wilderness, or will we demand control and run back to slavery? And it points us to Jesus, the true Mediator, who bears our rebellion, secures our access, and leads fearful people home.

If you haven’t read Numbers 11–18 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
