Proverbs 28

- Wicked rulers oppress the poor and hoard unjust gain, but the righteous understand justice and give generously.

- Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, while the faithful expose evil and find favor.

Psalm 136

- Repeated refrain thanks the Lord for His enduring love shown in creation, deliverance from Egypt, and care for Israel.

- God’s steadfast love endures forever through every act of power and mercy.

Psalm 137

- Exiles in Babylon weep by the rivers, refusing to sing Zion’s songs while in captivity.

- They pray for justice against those who destroyed Jerusalem and took their children.

Psalm 138

- David praises God for answered prayer and deliverance, confident that all kings will bow before Him.

- God preserves the humble and lifts them up when they call on Him.

Psalm 139

- The psalmist marvels that God knows every thought, path, and word before it is spoken.

- He asks God to search his heart and lead him in the everlasting way.

- David prays for deliverance from violent and evil men who plot against him.
