In my experience there are two types of thinking when it comes to suffering. There are people who think, “I experienced something terrible and I don’t want anyone else to ever experience something like that.” And there are people who think, “I experienced something terrible, and everyone else should have to, too.” Ideally, we’re all in the first camp.
